“ADAPTATION OF THE MUNICIPAL PORT FUND OF SITIA TO THE NEW SCHENGEN ENTRY-EXIT SYSTEM”

The Port of Sitia, managed by the Municipal Port Fund of Sitia, is classified as National Importance (Interregional scope) for cruising as well as passenger and freight operation by the Regional Spatial Framework of Crete and as a Major Interest by Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy. The Port of Sitia is an intermediate station for passenger maritime transport with a connection to the Southern Dodecanese.

The port of Sitia is one of the 61 sea Border Crossing Points (BCP) based on the requirements of Regulation (EU) 2017/2226 for the implementation of the Entry-Exit System (EES), with our company having undertaken its adaptation to the new Schengen requirements in addition to the implementation of ISPS Code.
