KALYMNOS NEWS : “Press conference on the inclusion of the port of Kalymnos in a European program of 500,000€ – Significant development perspective for the island”

On Friday, August 1, 2025, a press conference was held at the Kalymnos Port Authority Offices, with the aim of informing about the procedures and actions that led to the inclusion of the island’s port in a European financial program of 500,000 euros. The inclusion of the project had already been announced a fortnight ago, however, today’s meeting aimed to highlight the background of the success and the significant development contribution of the project for Kalymnos.

Τhe financial program concerns the upgrading of the port’s infrastructure and security, with the aim of complying with European standards and strengthening its functionality as a Schengen entry point.

The panel included the Mayor of Kalymnos Ioannis Mastrokoukos, the current President of the Municipal Port Fund Michalis Platsis, the former President Anastasios Trikilis and Konstantinos Kavdas, Acting Director and Security Consultant of the company NEXT PLUS, which offered specialized consulting services and had a decisive contribution to the success of the integration.
